Research
We are interested in the cellular responses to stresses, including nutrient starvation, viral infection and the accumulation of unfolded proteins. The responses to mild stress lead to the expression of proteins that promote survival, whereas severe stress induces cell death (apoptosis). Our studies focus on the regulatory mechanisms that control both transcription and translation; working together, these mechanisms control the balance between expression of proteins that promote survival or apoptosis.
