About Hawai’i Governor Josh Green
Gov. Green worked as a physician for 20 years before he was elected to public office in 2004; he became governor in December 2022. He has prioritized improving public health and housing access throughout his career. While a state legislator, he focused on health care, which included providing health insurance for every child in the state. As lieutenant governor, he spearheaded the state’s COVID-19 response. And, as governor, he has pursued an ambitious agenda, continuing his focus on creating safe housing options for Hawaiʻi residents while leading the state’s response to the catastrophic 2023 wildfires on the island of Maui.
