Farzana Akkas Senior associate

Farzana Akkas is a senior associate with Pew’s suicide risk reduction project, focusing on efforts to expand suicide risk screening and care in U.S. hospitals and health systems. Previously, she was part of Pew’s health care products project, working on strengthening medical product regulation to safeguard patients and consumers. Before joining Pew, Akkas worked on public health policy, research, and advocacy issues for Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from Kingston University London and a master’s in health promotion and public health from Brunel University London.

Allison Corr Officer

Allison Corr is an officer with Pew’s suicide risk reduction project, working with hospitals and health systems to implement evidence-based suicide prevention interventions. Previously, Corr was an officer with Pew’s dental campaign, focusing on efforts to expand access to oral health care for underserved populations. Before joining Pew, she worked on a range of health care issues for the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Corr holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and master’s degrees in public health and social work from Columbia University.

Brandee Izquierdo, Ph.D. Director

Brandee Izquierdo, Ph.D., oversees Pew’s behavioral health portfolio, which includes the substance use prevention and treatment initiative and the suicide risk reduction project.
