Meet the Team

Sarah Ali Senior Associate

Sarah Ali is a senior associate with Pew’s broadband access initiative. She assists in providing technical assistance to state broadband offices through Pew’s broadband education and training initiative. Before joining Pew, Ali served as a broadband program specialist within the Office of Internet Connectivity and Growth at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Ali holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in public policy management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Summer Boucher-Robinson Senior Associate

Summer Boucher-Robinson is a senior associate with Pew’s broadband access initiative. She provides support to the team’s federal and state outreach advocacy campaigns and technical assistance to state broadband offices through Pew’s broadband education and training initiative. Before joining Pew, Boucher-Robinson served as an associate at New America’s digital impact and governance initiative. Boucher-Robinson received a bachelor’s degree in political science and Jewish studies from American University.

Kathryn de Wit Project Director

Kathryn de Wit directs the broadband access initiative, which is working with national and state leaders to accelerate the nation’s progress on universal broadband access. Before joining Pew, de Wit was a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, where she focused on telecommunications, cybersecurity, and public affairs.

Lorenzo Frausto Associate Manager

Lorenzo Frausto supports Pew’s broadband access initiative, which works to accelerate efforts to connect millions of Americans to affordable, reliable high-speed internet. Before joining Pew, Frausto was the assistant director of human resources and operations for Achieving the Dream Inc. He also served as a field organizer for President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign in Pennsylvania, where he managed organizing efforts to increase the Latino vote. Frausto holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s in education and human development from George Washington University.

Harrison Frye Associate

Harrison Frye provides research and writing support for the broadband access initiative. Before joining Pew, Frye worked as the director of research and policy and as a field organizer for a congressional campaign in North Carolina. He has also completed multiple internships with government and nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C. Frye earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Guilford College.

Colby Humphrey Officer

Colby Humphrey is an officer with Pew’s broadband access initiative, and his research focuses on broadband access and affordability challenges throughout the U.S. Before joining Pew in 2022, he conducted market research for tech initiatives in the public and private sectors, worked in economic development for the state of Texas, and was a policy analyst for TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program. Humphrey received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Baylor University, a master’s in public service administration from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in government from the University of Texas at Austin. 

Molly Mathews Associate Manager

Molly Mathews manages operations, including planning and strategy, for the broadband access initiative. Before joining Pew, Mathews worked for FP1 Strategies LLC, focusing on campaign advertising, and Fox News Channel as an assignment editor. Mathews earned a bachelor’s degree in literature and media studies from the Catholic University of America.

Jake Varn Associate Manager

Jake Varn is an associate manager with Pew’s broadband access initiative. He provides technical assistance to state broadband offices through Pew’s broadband education and training initiative.

Kelly Wert Associate

Kelly Wert provides research and writing support for the broadband access initiative. Before joining Pew, Wert completed internships focusing on education and health care policy. She graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in government and American studies.
