Elizabeth Wilson

PROFILE

Elizabeth Wilson leads the Pew environmental policy team that focuses on securing policy change at various levels of government, from state and federal to multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. In this role, Wilson leads Pew’s crosscutting conservation work and field operations units, and oversees specific projects, including developing an international treaty to protect the high seas; preventing harm from seabed mining; addressing harmful fishing subsidies; reducing threats from flooding in the U.S.; and keeping plastics out of the ocean. Previously, Wilson led Pew’s international ocean policy work, where she managed policy development and outreach in international forums, and before that she ran the multilateral efforts of the Trusts’ global shark conservation initiative.

Before joining Pew, Wilson worked on science and policy issues related to fisheries and marine wildlife at Oceana. She also worked for the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, coordinating the efforts of committees responsible for, among other issues, protected species and the socioeconomic impacts of fisheries.

Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University Maryland and a master’s in environmental management, with a concentration in coastal environmental management, from Duke University.
