Donna Frisby-Greenwood
PROFILE
Donna Frisby-Greenwood is a senior vice president at The Pew Charitable Trusts, leading the organization’s work throughout the Philadelphia region; with private and public funders and government, academic, and civic leaders across the country to close gaps between research and outcomes; and with communities of biomedical and marine scientists around the world. In this role, she supervises Pew’s research, policy, and grantmaking in Philadelphia to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to thrive; the Evidence Project to harness the power of funders and cultivate innovation to reimagine how research can inform public policy and address long-standing societal challenges; and the Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences and the Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation to provide grants for science that, respectively, advances health and protects the ocean.
Before joining Pew, Frisby-Greenwood served as president and chief executive officer of The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia. She was also Philadelphia program director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and led several other local and national nonprofit organizations, including Rock the Vote and the School District of Philadelphia’s Office of College and Career Readiness. Frisby-Greenwood was a national urban fellow at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and currently serves as vice chair and director of National Urban Fellows Inc., a director of the Hip Hop Library, and director of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Foundation.
Frisby-Greenwood holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Virginia and a master’s in public administration from Baruch College.
