Meet the Team

Kyra Fryling Associate

Kyra Fryling’s work with Pew’s antibiotic resistance project focuses on research and development of effective stewardship activities with the goal of reducing inappropriate antibiotic use in outpatient settings. Before joining Pew, Fryling worked as a manager and research assistant at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, investigating novel treatment pathways for bacterial infections. She holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Vermont.

David Hyun, M.D. Project Director

David Hyun, M.D., directs Pew’s state health solutions project, which works with policymakers to narrow health disparities, reduce health care costs, and reach better outcomes by improving how data is used.

Deanna Richards Manager

Deanna Richards leads and develops staff with Pew’s antibiotic resistance project to ensure that project objectives and milestones are being achieved. She is responsible for managing the project’s contracts, grant agreements, and operational budget, in addition to establishing and improving project processes. Richards is also the health equity lead on the project, ensuring that equity remains a top priority. Before joining Pew, Richards worked as a project manager for more than 10 years. Richards holds a master’s degree in public administration with a focus on health policy from George Washington University.

Kathy Talkington Director

Kathy Talkington oversees teams of policy experts, scientists, and staff who lead engagement for Pew’s work on public health issues, including the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and the need for new antibiotics and safe drugs, health care products, and food.

Rachel Zetts Senior Officer

Rachel Zetts is a senior officer with Pew’s state health solutions project, which works with policymakers to narrow health disparities, reduce health care costs, and reach better outcomes by improving how data is used. The project helps states to establish data partnerships between state public health departments and state Medicaid agencies that can leverage the health information they already have to improve the quality of care.
