Expanding Electronic Data Sharing for Public Health

The Pew Charitable Trusts sent comments on Sept. 8 to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services urging it to take steps to improve the exchange of data between health care providers and public health agencies.

Specifically, the comments include ways the agency can spur more electronic health record systems to share data with public health departments, giving them information they need to recognize and respond to emerging health threats more quickly.
