Pew, Stakeholders Call for Enhanced Antimicrobial Information
Organizations highlight the importance of data collection, reporting to combat resistance
On June 17, The Pew Charitable Trusts and more than 40 organizations sent a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in support of the agency’s proposal to require that hospitals report antimicrobial use and resistance data. In the letter, the groups emphasized the importance of widespread antibiotic use and resistance data in identifying and tracking emerging threats, and the critical role data plays in evaluating the impact of efforts to improve antibiotic use and address resistance.
