The Pew Charitable Trusts submitted comments March 11 to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with recommendations to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to future health disasters and emergencies as part of the federal government’s ongoing process to update the National Health Security Strategy.
Pew offered suggestions to speed the development of new antibiotics and minimize improper use of existing ones, and to improve electronic data sharing between health care facilities and public health agencies so that those agencies have the information they need to quickly recognize and respond to crises.
