The Pew Charitable Trusts joined dozens of research, health care, and nonprofit stakeholders in urging President-elect Joe Biden to prioritize and strengthen the national response to antibiotic resistance. In a letter sent to the incoming administration Dec. 16, the organizations recommended a comprehensive approach to combating antibiotic resistance through prevention, surveillance, stewardship, research, and innovation. Additionally, the group encouraged the president-elect to strengthen the 2020 National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria to include meaningful incentives and align federal activities with Presidential Advisory Council recommendations for combating these bacteria.
