PROFILE

Anelise Zimmer supports Pew’s advancing coastal wetlands conservation, working on policy engagement with governments, scientific partners, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and other stakeholders. Additionally, Zimmer leads the Mangrove Breakthrough NDC Task Force, a Pew-led initiative in partnership with the UNFCCC High-Level Champions and member organizations of the Global Mangrove Alliance. The task force provides technical guidance to countries to include mangrove conservation, restoration, and management in their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) to the Paris Agreement.

Before joining Pew, Zimmer served as a park ranger in Alaska; taught English in Malaysia as a Fulbright grantee; managed the environmental programs of Ocean Beauty Seafoods; and consulted on various mangrove, coral reef, and coastal conservation and research efforts in Hawaii, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Zimmer holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Willamette University and a master’s in environmental management from Yale University.
