Please join The Pew Charitable Trusts’ flood-prepared communities initiative and Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) for a Capitol Hill briefing, “Disaster Mitigation Is Smart Infrastructure.” It will address the impacts of more frequent flooding in communities and examine ways in which policymakers can make hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure more resilient to natural disasters.

Coinciding with 2018 Infrastructure Week and Building Safety Month, the event will feature the following speakers:

  • Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island
  • Craig Fugate, former administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency
  • Jane Gilbert, chief resilience officer, city of Miami
  • Brian Pallasch, managing director, government relations and infrastructure initiatives, American Society of Civil Engineers

  • Laura Lightbody, director of Pew’s flood-prepared communities initiative
