Conserving the Pantanal and Gran Chaco

Natalia Araujo is coordinating Pew’s work in Bolivia in support of Indigenous territories and to secure the future of parks and locally protected areas by improving their management standards. Before joining Pew, Araujo led the consultation carried out by ORÉ, a legal and social support organization, and commissioned by Pew for four Indigenous territories in Bolivia. She is trained as a biologist and has an extensive and varied conservation career in Bolivia, where she has contributed to landmark work in conservation planning, creating protected areas, and building technical capacity. Araujo has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno in Bolivia.

Amelia Moura supports the development and implementation of strategies to increase the protection of ecologically significant Pantanal and Gran Chaco habitats in Brazil and Bolivia. Before joining Pew, Moura led the science department at the Coral Restoration Foundation in Key Largo, Florida, where she implemented science-based solutions to coral reef decline and coordinated collaborative research to identify efficiencies of large-scale restoration efforts. She has demonstrated success working with diverse international stakeholders to develop tools and guidelines for improved coral restoration monitoring. Moura holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Southern California.

Daniela Salvatierra Da Silva supports Pew’s collaborative projects with partner organizations in Bolivia. She has more than a decade of conservation experience working with nongovernmental organizations in Bolivia, including Fundación Natura Bolivia, Asociación Pro-Crédito, and Asociación Civil Armonía, where she focused on project management, fundraising, conservation training, and communications. Salvatierra Da Silva has a bachelor's degree in biology from Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno in Bolivia and a master’s in ecology and wildlife conservation from the University of Florida.
