Overview

The Pew Charitable Trusts, Pan-African Collective for Evidence, and African Center for Equitable Development will co-host the 2024 Transforming Evidence Network (TEN) Conference, which takes place Nov. 19-21 in Cape Town, South Africa.

TEN is a global hub for knowledge and practice about effective and inclusive approaches to evidence production, mobilization, and use. The network fosters learning and collective action among actors in the academic, nonprofit, government, and philanthropic sectors who are leading efforts to close the gap between research and real-world solutions.

The 2024 TEN Conference will bring together an international community of action-oriented scholars, practitioners, policymakers, funders, and others working on a diverse array of issues, including health, education, sustainability, climate, peace and security, international development, and economic mobility. Conference attendees will draw on the network’s wealth of knowledge and experience to identify innovative approaches that inform their efforts and improve their practices. The conference will also serve as a platform for relationshipbuilding and partnerships.

Conference sessions will focus on:

  • Leading-edge scholarship about effective strategies, measures, and methodologies to expand and assess the role of research in informing policy, practice, and community decision-making.
  • Bright spots and pressing needs in building institutional infrastructure and incentives that support more effective and equitable linkages between evidence and public impact.
  • Promising progress in implementing engaged and participatory approaches to knowledge creation and decision-making.
  • New strategies and innovations in strengthening connections between evidence generation and use, including the use of artificial intelligence and other technologies.

The program will include interactive sessions to raise critical issues, discuss emerging trends, and spotlight promising approaches. There will also be opportunities for cross-sectoral networking and forging of partnerships for collaborative efforts.

The 2024 TEN Conference builds on the inaugural TEN Conference, which was held in October 2022 in Miami and brought together nearly 200 attendees from around the world.

Please note that this is an invitation-only event.
